Armored Car Heists Increase, Spotlighting Applied DNA Sciences’ Technology(0) Global interest in and use of Applied DNA Sciences’ (OTCBB: APDN) anti-theft and anti-counterfeiting technology continue to grow, as the world economy worsens and criminals make ever bolder attacks on cash-in-transit targets. The company provides DNA-based security and product authentication solutions. Against robbery and theft, company technology enables marking of cash with a unique form of DNA which, according to APDN’s website, is virtually impossible to wash off and lasts 350 years. When thieves try to pass the cash, or if they’re caught in possession, it can be quickly identified and arrests made. An armored car robbery in December 2008 quickly resulted in apprehension and a 15-year sentence for English thug Colin McCash when he tried to pass the bills in Lancashire, England. The robbery had also involved gunning down an unarmed armored car guard. It seems logical that Applied DNA Sciences’ technology is having an impact throughout the United Kingdom. 2010 resulted in a massive reduction of 30% in cash-in-transit crimes while losses also dropped by over 30%, largely due to use of the Company’s DNA taggants, with 16 robbers getting an aggregate 120 years in prison, according to APDN. These types of robberies have historically been more common in the UK than in any other part of the world, with 75% of them occurring there. But a statistical shift may be in progress as many national economies get tougher. A brazen daylight grab of a Loomis armored truck at Marseilles in June of this year, caught on this video, shows crooks torching a tire-filled bus to block the road as they load 2.1 million euros in cash into two getaway cars, leaving behind about five million euros. A copyrighted Associated Press story reported in February that the Washington, D.C. bureau of the FBI was continuing to wrestle with a sharp spike in armored car robberies in that city. According to the AP piece, by then there had been a dozen such stickups since March 2010, with arrests in only about a third of the cases. The city of Houston has also seen armored car stickups on the increase, and more attendant violence. As of August 3, says this story at chron.com, there had been six of these violent felonies this year alone, a figure “equal to all of 2009-2010”. Five of the stickups involved gunfire. As in the Marseilles incident, Loomis trucks were reportedly the targets in four holdups. One of the Houston heists can be seen in this video, with a guard firing shots into the pavement at the escaping thugs‘s vehicle. With so much financial terrorism on the rise, Applied DNA Sciences’ business just keeps growing. Jewelry stores and famed CF Martin Guitars have adopted APDN marking, as well as Loomis UK, representing about 27% of the UK cash-in-transit market. Applied DNA Sciences (APDN) Stock Quote and News:

Applied DNA, 3SI Security Systems Pen Long-Term Supply Agreement(0) This morning, Applied DNA Sciences, Inc. (OTCBB:APDN) disclosed a new long-term supply agreement with asset protection expert 3SI Security Systems. Applied DNA has already begun supplying DNA markers to 3SI with repeat orders slated to be delivered monthly. This new agreement continues to add credence to the prowess of Applied DNA’s SigNature DNA product as 3SI is widely respected in both the U.S. and Europe as an industry leader helping shepherd-in forensic markers in the cash protection industry. SigNature DNA technology can forensically link offenders with an individual crime scene, meaning they cannot deny their involvement. It cannot be removed or replicated and is available in an unlimited number of unique DNA codes, enabling the unequivocal authentication of bank notes and other marked items. According to the Applied DNA Sciences press release, “Applied DNA was selected by 3SI because of the conviction power of its DNA authentication system. Due to the robustness of the forensic markers, criminals can be linked directly to the evidence submitted for testing at Applied DNA laboratories.” Applied DNA Sciences has already captured a strong market share in the U.K. and this long-term agreement should aid in its technologies continuing to expand their footprint throughout Europe by continuing to assist law enforcement agencies in capturing and prosecuting criminals alleged in Cash Valuables in Transit (CVitT) crimes. A few statistics demonstrating the effectiveness of Applied DNA Sciences’ SigNature DNA in the U.K.:
The Return on Investment (ROI) for existing APDN customers has already proven record-setting within the CViT industry. This marks Applied DNA’s first entry into the marking of ATM’s. Established in the U.S. in 1970 and in Europe in 1982, 3SI Security Systems manufactures, sells and services asset protection security systems based on ink and smoke staining as well as GPS technology. Managing Director of 3SI Europe Derek Zuckert commented,
In a day when the Dow Jones is again down heavily, shares of APDN are trading at a premium to yesterday’s close; up 11.11% when less than two hours to the closing bell. Applied DNA Sciences, Inc. (APDN) Stock Quote and News:

Security News: Applied DNA Sciences Lands Deal with Dept. of Defense(0)
Following up on a recent article on Applied DNA Sciences and their solution for fraud in the microchip industry, we ran across this article written by Mike Sweeney at ProActive Newsroom: I first met CEO Jim Hayward roughly two years ago, and we talked about Applied DNA needing to secure a significant contract to give the company credibility in the public markets. APDN announced in a previous press release that it began marking microchips for a “government agency” which they did not name and the amount was not announced. Today, Applied DNA (OTCBB: APDN) announced the formal contract of $1.0 million with the Department of Defense to:
What is really interesting about this contract is it leads Applied DNA to BOTH government markets and private industry markets:
In the “Results tell the story” section of the press release, APDN once again did NOT name the manufacturer but were very specific when it stated:
